Honest-Scope Disclaimer

Last updated: July 19, 2026

PEGTrace is an evidence-integrity and workflow tool for institutional fraud investigators. This document states plainly what PEGTrace is and is not, so that no analyst, victim, custodian, or third party mistakes the platform's output for something it is not.

1. PEGTrace does not recover funds

PEGTrace does not initiate, perform, or promise the return of any funds. Any decision to return funds rests with the receiving custodian, subject to its own policies, applicable law, and lawful process. Blockchain transactions are final and cannot be reversed on-chain.

2. PEGTrace does not identify individuals

PEGTrace records identifiers — wallet addresses, URLs, hostnames, IP addresses, phone numbers, last-4 references — and their relationships in an evidence ledger. It does not attribute those identifiers to a specific person. Naming the owner of an account requires KYC records held by the receiving custodian, obtained through lawful process such as a subpoena.

3. PEGTrace does not render fraud verdicts

Signals surfaced in PEGTrace — including on-chain traces, breach-exposure results, IP intelligence, token-contract analysis, and heuristics — are investigative leads. They are not verdicts. The determination of whether conduct constitutes fraud rests with the institution, counsel, and appropriate authorities.

4. PEGTrace does not verify external findings

Findings imported from third-party tools, custodian responses, or investigator notes are recorded with attribution to their source and clearly marked as not verified by PEGTrace. Inclusion in a PEGTrace package does not endorse the underlying claim.

5. On-chain data is signal, not proof

On-chain data is drawn from third-party providers and public ledgers. Its usefulness weakens with distance from the source of interest. Mixers, bridges, and cross-chain flows can obscure movement. Recurring identifiers across cases are technical leads for further investigation — not proof of shared identity.

6. Not legal, financial, tax, or investment advice

Nothing in PEGTrace is legal, financial, tax, or investment advice. Consult qualified professionals for guidance specific to your matter.

7. Tamper-evident, not tamper-proof

The evidence ledger is designed to be tamper-evident: subsequent alterations to the recorded state are detectable through hash-chain verification, and packages are SHA-256 fingerprinted with a public verification portal at /verify. No system is perfectly resistant to compromise. Institutions remain responsible for their own operational security.

8. Recovery-scam warning

Any party contacting a victim to offer to 'recover' cryptocurrency in exchange for a fee, an advance payment, or a seed phrase is operating a scam. Do not share seed phrases or private keys with any party — not with PEGTrace, not with a custodian, not with law enforcement, not with a 'recovery specialist.'
